BIOGRAPHY
The forest, the undergrowth
I am interested in the forest as a habitat.
In addition to all these ecologically relevant findings, I am interested in the aesthetic phenomena: the variety of colors, the incidence of light, shadows on the ground, the play of light and dark, the shapes and gradients and the spaces that are constantly changing; the shadows on the trees, the cut-outs with windows of light and areas of color; fragments that stand next to each other and overlap. Add to this – as in the Engadin – the special light and the snow, and the tension, the colors are unsurpassable. All this led me to realize the theme of undergrowth as a creative challenge.

STATEMENT
The designer only has an idea of where the process is taking him. He must remain open to what comes to him from the designing movement. Not infrequently: The surprising, the unexpected.
Thomas Kurer, born in 1958, lives and works in Zurich, where he trained as a cabinetmaker and spent several years training as a furniture designer and builder. In search of more freedom, he now works with wood sculptures and reliefs and, more recently, with lithographs.
and, more recently, lithographs.
By layering colors, new moods can be created again and again. He is looking for them. In addition, the haptic closeness.
