BIOGRAPHY
Kyng is an emerging American artist and art collector. She seeks out models who possess powerful, and sometimes mundane, hidden stories to partner with her.
Together they work to draw out hidden thoughts and feelings in order to build out her eclectic Shadow Self and Pearl series’.
Pearl 1 – I’ll Say What I Want, the Alpha painting of the pearl series, demonstrates the strength required of all female Kyng’s to demand the upholding of our First Amendment rights.
Pearl 3 – Bell’s, epitomizes the stamina needed to come through a physical struggle to a far more secure and indestructible place in life.
Kyng is proud to exhibit 2 of the 4 pieces in her Medusa Series, which were inspired by Salvador Dali who often drew from ancient Greek legends and symbolism.
An Ethiopian model was Kyng’s muse during the illustration of four of the most memorable Medusa life moments. Including Medusa:Innocence, where at a young age she served in the temple of Athena, only to be ravaged in Medusa:Taken by the lustful Poseidon.
Medusa:Caste imparts early lore of victim shaming when Athena casts on her the spell of snake hair, forcing Medusa to live the rest of her life in her own singular caste. Medusa:Off passes on the final tragedy of her life where she was slit at the neck and used as a weapon for the rest of her life, if it could be called that.
CV
Kyng held her first solo exhibition while attendees were still wearing masks, at the Minneapolis Hope Lodge. It certainly was an inspiring time for her, and her models, to explore hidden thoughts.
Kyng’s work has exhibited at The Hamptons’ Art Fair, Kyng Fine Art gallery, Boomer gallery by the London Tower, Miami gallery Red Dot, during Art Week.
STATEMENT
Kyng is a Minnesota born and raised multi media artist. Her work was always filled with color and vibrancy until she found herself at the end of a many-year relationship.
She moved to a home where the color palette was neutral greys, blacks and whites. And then Covid struck. During lockdown, she significantly simplified her own color palette while enlarging the size of her canvases.
Her current work is reliant on partnering with a singular model, her muse of the moment. Her models fully partner in the experience and support the vision of the piece and devote significant time, if necessary, to capture the image that is most appropriate to transfer to canvas.
Kyng is looking for real people to partner with her on developing the following series’:
– Shadow Self
– Pearl
– Unholy
– Chains
