BIOGRAPHY
Pita Ohiwerei was born on September 2nd, 1963 in Nigeria where he attended Federal Polytechnic and graduated with a distinction in painting. Mainly working in oils, he has come up with a unique technique he calls “scratchee” and has shown his work in one man exhibitions across Europe, Africa and USA where he has won numerous awards. Ohiwerei’s paintings have also raised money for a variety of charitable organizations and are on display in private and corporate collections across Africa, Europe and USA.
He now lives and work in Atlanta.

STATEMENT
“As an artist, I think art is something from within trying to express itself. I feel I have so much to express, l am never satisfied, I always want to try something different.
Early in my career, l was using an impasto technique then I started experimenting – 1 used the tip of a knife and left marks on the canvas. Over time, these precise marks developed into my signature technique, my own post-impressionist Style I call “Statchee”.
