BIOGRAPHY

Nelida “Nela” Navarrine found a new path in painting. Her background and work experience were in designing information systems until she moved from Buenos Aires to St Louis in 2009. In the US, she found the space and support to share what she loved to do in her free time, painting. She learned to use new mediums like encaustic and resin and enjoys combining them and creating something unique.
She describes her art as a way to communicate in a language that is not spoken.
Nela feels peace and happiness in this artistic journey and one of her goals is to inspire others to find joy by expressing themselves in any way that allows them to feel free.

STATEMENT

I am a visual artist who finds inspiration in the colors and shapes of nature.
Painting with encaustic and oil between multiple layers of resin allows the viewer to partially see through the images and to be immersed in a translucent background.
Every layer tells part of a story. My story.
You are invited to come closer, and to be lost, in the depth of the natural world.
