BIOGRAPHY

Kelly Monsalve is a contemporary painter born in Los Angeles, California, to Colombian parents. Her passion for art awakened at a very young age as she began exploring color, texture, and femininity through her first sketches and paintings.
Motivated by her interest in aesthetics and individual expression, she studied Fashion Design at Miami International University of Art & Design, where she discovered in fashion a powerful language that she would later incorporate into her artistic work.
Inspired by the contemporary woman and her constant search for identity, Kelly develops a pictorial practice that celebrates the strength, autonomy, and beauty of the feminine. Her portraits depict empowered women who break molds—women who inhabit their bodies and their stories freely, and who seek to leave a mark on the world.
For Kelly, fashion is more than a style; it is a symbol of power, independence, and authenticity. Through vibrant colors, dynamic compositions, and a narrative visual language, her work connects identity and transformation, inviting reflection on traditional canons and recognizing the diversity and resilience of today’s woman.

STATEMENT

My work is born from the dialogue between the contemporary woman and the universe of fashion—understood not only as aesthetics, but as identity, power, and expression. I paint women who inhabit their bodies with freedom, defying stereotypes and claiming their rightful space within today’s society.
Through vibrant colors, intuitive strokes, and mixed media compositions full of energy, I seek to capture the strength, vulnerability, and beauty of the feminine. Each portrait is a visual manifesto—a cry of autonomy, resilience, and transformation.
My inspiration arises from the diversity of women who surround me—their stories, passions, and battles. Fashion becomes my visual language, a symbol of identity, and a tool of empowerment. My paintings celebrate the essence of being a woman today.
