As if it were a hallucinogen, the images excite us, make us fly, take us on a journey, and question us. A group of young dreamers leads us to imagine that everything is possible, that utopias are viable, and that the revolution is crossing the street. Sex, politics, and art are a precise combination.
In a tribute to the time and the artistic intoxication in which we are immersed, the collages, surreal images, the most abstract expressions, and even naive figuration seek to transgress, discuss, think and even intoxicate us with inks, oils, and solvents.
In a new curatorial journey, the artists take pleasure in showing us that frenzy in which they wander, interspersing in works that they evoke, in a beautiful montage where we can glimpse how much the history of art is tattooed on their skin.
Like a great nest that embraces these dreamers, Dreamland the new group exhibition at Galeria Azur Madrid investigates an exciting symbiosis with romantic overtones, where surrealism, fantasies, and murmured scenes transport us.
Just like in Bernardo Bertolucci’s Italian movie ‘The Dreamers’ where the hypnotic dream in which we are immersed, becomes real and allows us to wake up from youthful reverie:
“Now we are adults, and the streets are full of protesters. We join them knowing that nothing will be the same again, that what we dreamed of is over. The screening came to an end. The projector is now off, theater lights are back on. It is time to go: life awaits us”.
