Jelly On The Reef

A huge canvas was sitting in my studio for awhile and I wanted to paint it but i was scared. My husband encouraged me to do it anyways so I painted one of our favorite things to watch, jelly fish. I used the subtraction technique and then did a colorful underpainting, I let the painting tell me what it wanted to become and played around with a few mediums i was curious about until it looked finished. This was the first big painting I created and I wanted to make something colorful that captured multiple senses, I wanted to create something that came from me after weeks of only doing student assignments.
