BIOGRAPHY

Sima Baher is a visual artist, poet and writer, editor and lawyer. She works in various techniques and themes and her paintings are in private collections in Europe and South America. She studied Fine Arts in Italy, and Cultural Management in Uruguay. She had many solo art exhibitions in Europe and South America in art galleries, museums, cultural centres, governmental sites, among others; mostly in Italy, Uruguay, Brasil and Argentina. She also participated in numerous collective exhibitions and is a member of several art groups. She received national and international awards and recognitions for her art such as: Premio Foro (Italy), Victoria; Phoenix; and Merito Oriental a la Paz Awards (Uruguay). She is the Director of the Center for Art, Culture and Development. She has published several books in which incorporates her paintings and designs.

Studies: Accademy Degree in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti, Italy. Graduated as Cultural Manager , Ateneo de Montevideo, Uruguay. Doctor of Law from the Universidad de la Empresa, Uruguay. Post-graduation in Social Development, Chile. Awards: Forum Award (Italy), Victoria Award; Phoenix Award; and Merito Oriental a la Paz (Uruguay). Special Mention of the Municipality of Ciudad de la Costa (Uruguay).

STATEMENT

Sima Baher is a visual artist who explores modern art through a fusion of nuances, colors, and representations that oscillate between the figurative and the abstract. Her work invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a unique atmosphere, connecting from an aesthetic as well as a contemplative and reflective approach, seeking less visible messages and perceptions. Sima uses a wide variety of techniques, sometimes combining them with each other. She works with oils, acrylics, watercolors and others, applying her art on canvas, paper, glass and wooden boards. Her themes are diverse and range from social issues and women, to nature, the urban and the abstract. Each of her works is an invitation to explore new dimensions and meanings, where technique and subject matter intertwine to create deeply evocative visual experiences.
