BIOGRAPHY

Born on 3 September 1973 in Belgrade (Serbia), Sandra Vukelić graduated from the Design School of Belgrade. She studied painting in the school of Mr. Sergej Jovanovic.
Life and love took her to Piacenza, Italy, where she has lived since 2002.
As her love for painting and her need to tell her stories have never stopped, she follows her instinct and integrates both privacy and the inspirations surrounding her, while finding a personal way to communicate.
She mostly works with acrylic on canvas and plywood but also with mixed techniques.

STATEMENT

The works are born as a spontaneous response to the stimuli of everyday life: what we experience, the people we meet, the situations we face. They are a way of giving shape and meaning to our experiences, an attempt to clarify and illustrate what we think, feel and imagine.
Each work begins with a spark, a provocation that triggers a creative process. The final result, however, is always unexpected, because it is shaped by emotions and continuous evolution.
The works are an expression of feelings and the need to communicate. The message, if there is one, emerges spontaneously from the work itself.
The freedom to express oneself is a fundamental right, an intrinsic necessity of human beings, not simply a privilege.
