BIOGRAPHY

“Ily Dietz is a visual artist and photographer with a degree in Design from PUC-Goiás. Her artistic identity was forged in her mother’s studio, also a plastic artist, where she grew up surrounded by brushes and canvases, developing a keen sensitivity for aesthetic intervention. This innate curiosity led her to explore a vast range of mediums, from woodworking and ceramics to tapestry and modeling, lending a tactile and multidisciplinary character to her work. Following a period dedicated to art education, where she refined her perspective on the creative process, Dietz consolidated her independent artistic production.

Her current work is a profound investigation into the feminine, exploring the duality between power and vulnerability through compositions that balance formal rigor and expressive freedom.”

STATEMENT

“Her work establishes a constant dialogue between light and the obscure, investigating the feminine through the lens of Jungian concepts of archetypes and individuation. For Dietz, the act of painting with palette knives transcends aesthetics: it is a quest to materialize the invisible, the relief of pain, the texture of joy, and the clarity of transcendence.

With a visual language that balances the rigor of design and the freedom of abstraction, her works operate as psychic mirrors. They provoke a necessary confrontation between the ‘self’ and its multiple dualities, extending this reflection to the surroundings and the structures that govern society. It is an invitation to observe not only what inhabits the subconscious but also how these shadows and lights manifest within the social body.”
