BIOGRAPHY

Gamze is a self-taught Turkish-American artist living in Seattle.

Born in Turkey in 1969, Gamze moved to the US as a Fulbright Scholar and completed her PhD in Computer Engineering in Arizona. She spent more than 30 years working in the technology industry. While working full time and raising two kids, she found calm and peace in playing with colors.

Gamze’s art is heavily impacted by her dysfunctional childhood, where struggles around her father’s mental illness were part of daily life. Her chronic depression has shaped who she is as an artist, mainly a modern figurative expressionist trying to capture universal thoughts and feelings in her simple portraits.

Gamze’s works have been exhibited so far in Seattle, New York, Paris, Madrid, Monaco, Milan and Istanbul.
