BIOGRAPHY
César Martiniano was born in the Azores (Angra do Heroísmo) in 1995. Despite participating in various visual arts and painting workshops since childhood, he initially pursued a path in Science and Technology during secondary school, hesitant to pursue an artistic career. However, in 2013, an opportunity arose for him to participate as a Young Creator at the Walk&Talk Festival 2013 in Ponta Delgada, which sparked a shift towards a more creative direction in his life. In 2016, he graduated in Graphic Design from ESAD (Caldas da Rainha).
From late 2016 to late 2018, alongside working as a graphic designer, he painted several murals in Azores (Portugal) and one mural in Fort Wayne (Indiana, United States), actively engaging in local art events such as the Azure Festival, Walk&Talk, Azores Fringe Festival and Angra+Jovem.
By the end of 2018, he moved to Porto, pursuing a Master’s degree in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. In 2020, he defended his thesis titled “Arquipélago DADA: A humanist sans-serif font for expressive visual compositions.”
Today, he resides in Terceira Island (Azores), transitioning from his role as a graphic designer and creative director to becoming a full-time artist, painting his abstract vision of the world with freedom and expression.
