Susana Saman’s paintings unfold a universe in which color becomes a vital force. Her abstract compositions evoke inner landscapes and natural phenomena that oscillate between the terrestrial and the cosmic, creating spaces for contemplation in a constant state of transformation. Matter, gesture, and transparency coexist in a delicate balance between intensity and serenity.

About Me

The greatest sources of inspiration that have influenced the creation of my works have always been the contemplation of the perfection of existence, such as the reddish-orange colors fading into the grayish-blues of sunsets. Also, the intense blues of the deep sea and the vibrant turquoises of the Caribbean Sea.

My expression is spontaneous and abstract, spreading acrylics on canvases with delicate brushstrokes and fans of color, firm and gestural strokes with different palette knives. I like strong textures on occasion because they enrich the works, giving them volume, balance, and harmony. In some pieces, I simply coat them with diluted acrylics, obtaining a subtle and calm result.

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on January 17, 1956, she moved to Caracas at the age of 20, where she currently resides. She began her artistic exploration with a visual style rooted in the tradition of marine landscape painting, later evolving towards a deeper understanding of the subject matter. In these works, she incorporates geographical elements characteristic of the Jordanian and Lebanese coasts, creating a challenging artistic introspection that allows her to consolidate her own unique language.
All of this is influenced by her training at the University Institute of Interior Design in Caracas between 1980 and 1984. Similarly, her partial studies at the Faculty of Architecture at the Catholic University of Guayaquil, where she began her artistic journey, gradually integrated drawing, perspective, color, and the elements of composition and artistic planning into her training.
Currently, some of her works are located in Madrid and Santiago de Chile, Bogotá, Guayaquil, Caracas, Miami and New York.
