GALERIA AZUR MADRID

“Old time” and “old timey” are terms used to describe stereotypical images and representations from the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the United States, generally those corresponding to a generation before or after the turn of the 20th century.

Sentimental longing for a near past prompted several artists to make a revival of those images, a remake of an earlier era.

They worshipped certain qualities representative of the diversity of artistic concerns emerging during this period; but the new lines of research find renewed expressions in contemporary artistic practices: those practices that, without exalting an old time as sacralized, understand the works as bearers of meaning, endowed with temporality and belonging.

In this sense, ANY OLD TIME, the new proposal of GALERIA AZUR MADRID brings together a group of artists in a narrative that explores the fusion of artistic currents, the search for originality, the value of experimentation and processes, and the creation of new discourses within conceptual art.

Geometric abstractions, new ways of creating art in a perceptual and rational language, the use of sacred and secular symbolism, new approaches in the field of landscape research and the recording of nature, together with new materialities for everyday and ceremonial use in both anthropology and aesthetics, postulate the sphere of a new exhibition space.
