BIOGRAPHY

Rita Krupaviciute is a Lithuanian-born artist, who is currently based in London. Rita’s artistic practice is expressed in her paintings.
She grew up in the countryside, and this made a great influence on her creativity as she has been exploring nature and been painting landscapes since her teens. After she graduated from Art School in Vilnius, she independently continued to study painting and drawing landscapes, portraits and figurative.
She often combines the elements of figuration, old trees and flowers, which leads into an abstract interpretation of nature and humanity in time and space.
Rita Krupaviciute creates in series, which usually is ten or twelve paintings. The recent ones are ‘Abstractions’ (2022), presented by the Galeria Azur, ‘The Tree Stories’ (2021), and ‘The Flowers Life’ (2021). Being also interested in portraits and figurative, which in her opinion is the biggest challenge to an artist, she painted the series of life model portraits and nude figurative in oil on canvas, watercolour, charcoal and pastel on paper (2018-2019).
Humanity in time and space in terms of nature and Universe stays the central concern in Rita’s artistic practice and research. Her artworks are the reflection of her personal history as a part of humanity, and the themes she addresses. Impressed by nature itself and Gustav Klimt’s paintings, Rita discovered her unique style. Soft, light colours in a contrast with black and gloss create the balance and harmony that truly breathe with life.
Rita Krupaviciute paints on canvas using oil, acrylics, and mixed media such as charcoal, oil pastel, watercolour and others. She also likes experimenting with the new mediums, and keeps on painting a new series.
As an artist Rita Krupaviciute is represented by Trinity Art Gallery in London. Her artworks have been exhibited in London UK, Norway, Poland, Belgium, Latvia and Lithuania.

STATEMENT

In the series of paintings ‘Abstractions’ Rita Krupaviciute invites the viewer to explore the subtle philosophical approach to life that her artworks convey. Through her research, she seeks to bring into focus the relationship between nature, humanity and the environment, emphasising the need for a balance between the two.
The series ‘Abstractions”has been painted in 2022 as a result of her previous research and has not been exhibited before. Each painting besides its title, has its number in a sequence it was painted.
Rita has a particular fondness for interpreting old trees, flowers, and figurative as these elements provide an insight into the passing of time and the complexity of existence. Through her abstract paintings, Rita hopes to provide both viewers and herself with a deeper understanding of the world around us. Her artworks suggest to explore the relationship with nature and humanity, and to contemplate the philosophical implications of life.
The elements of trees, flowers and figurative interpretation gives the artworks a unique quality. An intuitively balanced composition and harmonious colours contrast with the dark tones and bring the freshness and vividness to her artworks, hence the fragmentation and merging-emerging lines reminds how fragile our world is. Meanwhile, the glossy and golden partners invite to celebrate joy, glory and love.
