BIOGRAPHY

Monica Miranda’s work is an act of redemption and courage. Although her talent was
recognised at an early age—winning prizes in art competitions in Madrid at the age of
ten—her professional career was put on hold by the demands of family life, putting on
hold a vocation that never faded.
After overcoming a life-changing challenge such as cancer, Miranda finally decided to
give herself permission to embrace her true nature. This personal rebirth is the central
theme underpinning her current practice: a conscious resistance to the acceleration and
dehumanisation of the world.
Through a deliberately slow and material-focused process, in which plaster and pure
pigments are layered to evoke the reconstruction of the self, the artist champions the
time taken by the process and the recovery of the human essence. His series, such as
Nephesh (the breath of life) and Origen, are explorations of presence and resilience,
inviting the viewer to pause in the here and now as a refuge from the systemic.
Currently represented by 1819 Art Gallery and featured on the international platform
Artsy, Miranda transforms her story of overcoming adversity into a universal visual
language, where the material becomes the living testimony of a soul that has finally
decided to express itself.

CV

I see creation as a process of personal alchemy and the restoration of identity. My work
stems from a vital rebirth that finally allowed me to give myself permission to inhabit my
true artistic nature. My practice is a radical material investigation: I explore the
reconstruction of the self through the layering of plaster, pigments and acrylics, integrating
elements from the earth itself—stones, leaves and found textures—as tactile testimonies to
our shared history.
Each work is a topography of memory where the mineral and the ephemeral coexist,
creating visual refuges that champion the time of the process in the face of systemic
acceleration. I seek to capture energy fields and human resilience, transforming my
biography into a universal language where matter becomes the vehicle of light and the
breath of life (Nephesh).
Training and theoretical foundations
2018–2020 | Training in Anthroposophical Art Therapy: (Madrid). Two years of
classroom-based study focusing on the phenomenology of colour and therapy through
the artistic process.
Anthroposophical art therapy is the technical and philosophical foundation of my work,
using the symbolism of colour and materiality as tools for resilience and continuous
presence.
My current work is the synthesis of all this: a material and spiritual resistance.

STATEMENT

My work emerges as an act of resistance against contemporary acceleration and the loss of process in life. In an era saturated with sharpness and control, my painting breaks through as a fissure: a sensitive map of embodied vibrations where the body unfolds beyond form and language.
Through dense textures, metallic pigments, and an almost alchemical materiality, I seek a perception that operates from intuition and affective memory. I do not paint bodies to be identified, but rather presences that inhabit the border between the visible and the latent; beings reconfiguring themselves in their transition toward a new form of matter.
I view my work as a constellation of affective nodes. I use gold, cracks, and glazes as visual rituals where time folds over the flesh. My invitation to the viewer is not to interpret, but to be touched by the echo of what the painting holds, allowing the artwork to act as a sensory mantra in a world that has forgotten how to stop.
