STATEMENT
I wish to unleash upon the canvas the fears, desires, and ineffable subtleties trapped within my heart. Though my paintings often take the form of portraiture, I am less interested in reproducing the literal likeness of a figure than in placing her within a particular context so that she might undergo an experience on my behalf. At times, I find it both perilous and thrilling to lay bare my innermost workings in this way, as though standing naked before the viewer. Yet I yearn deeply for such an exchange.
