ARTSPER

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, DiCastro was a very curious child with a passion for drawing the unknown. Ever since 5 years old his drawings always filled the air with mystical and dreamy subjects, and after growing age a constantly search of the unknown, through human feelings and the subconscious allegories. After learning about the concepts of realism and the use of the pencil, his drawings took a darker path through the blackwork and sketch drawing movement, with the heavy handed indian ink use, he began his career in the tattoo world. In his current stage he started a journey with the acrylic paint, and got his inspiration in more contemporaneous artists – thus finding his own identity in a symbiosis of traditional methods and gesture drawing. His paintings still travel the unknown, the human psique in a raw and vicious form that may take the viewer to an transcendent stage of contemplation and self evaluation.

STATEMENT

I believe in painting as a study of our subconscious and intricate thoughts, a way of learning more about myself and how it affect others. The rough brush strokes, strong colors and hidden figures are part of a Raw movement in which art have more emotional and spiritual value than a rational and calculated stance. The meaning comes first but then the body leads the way with gestures and feelings, forming a type of confession.
