BIOGRAPHY

Maja Weller is a visual artist from Germany. The self-taught artist from Hamburg, who was born in 1969, has been passionate about painting and drawing since her childhood. Unfortunately, her scientific university studies and professional career pushed it to the background. It was not until many years later that she rediscovered her passion in the visual arts. Her signature is clearly reflected in her paintings. It transfers to the smooth color gradients and stunning textures she creates on canvas. She likes to work with blurred colors and shiny tones. The image statement is expressive and delicate at the same time. Through her compositions, in which fiction and reality meet, meanings shift, past and present fuse, she communicates directly with the viewer, thereby allowing him to make his own interpretation.

STATEMENT

My artworks reflect my thoughts and emotions. A mix of acrylic and modeling paste, pigments and collage, alcohol inks and art metal, everything is decided spontaneously in the painting process. Much is left to chance, rediscovered, sorted or revised. Mixing of the different shades of color, light, shadow, and plasticity are further focal points. I’m always looking for ways to add depth to my paintings to reach the viewer on his emotional level. The focus is on experimentation, not necessarily on the finished painting. I let my creativity flow freely and focus entirely on myself. Trusting my own intuition, I follow the flow. Allowing feelings and coincidences is crucial for me. I love developing a fluid work dynamic, turning off my head and surrendering to spontaneous intuition. The observation of what gradually emerges in the painting usually becomes my guiding thread. The viewer is invited to embark on a journey of discovery, to immerse himself in the complexity of my paintings and to perceive the world through my eyes. My goal is to touch and inspire the viewer with the questions reflected in my paintings.
