BIOGRAPHY

Luisa Pereira da Fonseca, a visual artist born in Lisbon, has been on an artistic path since childhood. She graduated in Fine Arts from ESAD Caldas da Rainha (Portugal) and obtained a master’s degree in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo (Brasil). In Lisbon, she took a Garden Design course at the Lisbon School of Design and also attended drawing and painting studios as extracurricular activities.

In January 2024, she opened her gallery in an old space of the current 8Marvila. Representing the Abel Pereira da Fonseca clan, of which she is a great-granddaughter, she creates an inviting home-like atmosphere in her space to engage and welcome the public in a sensory and sharing moment. She exhibits and sells her paintings, complemented by decoration and music, allowing the audience to enjoy a unique experience. The space is volatile and characterized by constant change; the artist adapts the interior environment to the exterior, connecting her artistic language to the seasons, from cool to warm colors, to the VAL DO RIO wine that she offers to enhance the audience’s experience.

The artist develops expressive paintings and site-specific works in urban and real estate spaces. In her expressive painting, she relates to fast and impulsive gestural movements, strong and striking strokes that create a reflection of her spirit on the canvas. The evident and striking contrasts in her works represent the power of complementary opposing forces. The three-dimensionality in site-specific works has strongly enriched her creative expression. From the canvas to the common space, she creates unique installations for specific spaces, challenging the observer’s perspective and their interactive freedom. All her works are accompanied by poetry, allowing the language to communicate in a way that fosters a possible connection with the observer, exploring the potential of inner strength.
