BIOGRAPHY
Lourenzo Smith, an American, mixed media artist, bridges the past and present, preserving the timeless materials of film photography and classic Mercedes-Benz cars. Inspired by his father, a mechanic and photographer, his fascination with these subjects began in childhood and has evolved over the years. His passion is reflected in two published photobooks, a short film, and multiple solo exhibitions. In his latest series, “A Little Bit of Luxury” he blends mediums, layering Polaroid images onto painted canvas with acrylics and pastels, creating a unique fusion of nostalgia and contemporary art.
Lourenzo lives and works in Los Angeles but frequents between Texas, Seattle, and New York between projects to gather inspiration and new ideas.

STATEMENT
My work explores vintage aesthetics and timeless objects through film photography and painting. I’m drawn to the textures and emotions that arise when I encounter classic Mercedes cars or the different people from various walks of life driving them. Film photography, unlike digital images, captures a tactile quality that allows me to truly feel the moment. By focusing on my subjects, I aim to highlight the beauty of everyday life and the nostalgia that comes with it, all at once.
