BIOGRAPHY
Moving away from home (Slovakia), the thirst for an adventure, strong memories, replacement, and the eagerness to know herself, by all these aspects and inspired by various artists such as Wangechi Mutu, Ana Mendieta, Jennifer Calivas, Katarina Reiterova (b.1990) investigates one’s awareness of identity, the connection to the body as well as its connection to a particular landscape translated into desire, sensuality, healing throughout sexuality portraying creativity, shame healing that causes fragments of thyself, the power of an individual reflected in collective.
Katarina was born in Slovakia and after 20 years she moved to the United Kingdom where she continues exploring different cultures, land, and the means of a female figure in relationships overall. She works through multiple mediums such as paintings, collages, and projections as well as using her body as a drawing tool in her performances.

STATEMENT
The paintings are a reflection of a female conversation with herself and her own fragmentation decoded by her childhood, adolescent, and adult adventures in the environment of reality, the purity of nature, and fantasy. It is focused on the female perspective. Paintings also represent male figures and feminine and masculine energies. What is in us and around us realizes the power of self. It also raises a question of who is in what position and speculates about our own points of view.
