BIOGRAPHY
She was born and raised in Seoul Korea
Her dream, which began at the age of five, is to this day through continuous art education in the hope of becoming a wonderful artist.
In order to experience a new world of seeing and feeling things, she graduated from college in Korea and then went on to study in Baltimore, the U.S. After she finished her painting studies, she moved to New York and began to take an interest in a new field.
Thinking that modern art can be reborn as a higher-quality and practical art through mutual harmony rather than separating fine art and applied art, she enters an interior school to study substantive space in addition to painting in the United States.
After graduation, she returned to Korea and worked as an interior designer and art director at a major company, continuing her work activities.
Since 2005, she has been immersed in her work and has mostly expressed through various themes for human internal and external healing.
Meanwhile, after moving to Hawaii in 2020, she is fascinated and inspired by nature in beautiful Hawaii and is working on a new theme of nature with dogs.
She has wanted to create beautiful works in a new beautiful environment and thereby deliver a message of joy and healing to many people.

STATEMENT
Jullia Kim gets her inspiration from Waikiki Beach where she walks every morning taking in the sights, smells and sounds of the iconic beach. The aloha spirt—meaning hello, love, friendship, and farewell—sets Hawaii apart from other tourist destinations. During her early morning walks she meets people from around the world, and their dogs of all sizes, colors, fur coats and facial expressions. Dogs are magnets that bring strangers together to pause, chat and make friends.
Kim experimented with different artistic techniques to capture the attractive features of the dogs she encountered on her Waikiki strolls. However, painting dogs on canvas was limited to two dimensional canvases. Adding different colors and shading produced depth, but the features remained fixed and never changing regardless of the angle viewed or lighting.
She turned to experimenting with clay on wooden panels, adding a third dimension that no longer needed shading or multiple colors to give depth. Finally, she discovered a single clear finish produced features and the desired effect—a work of art with a multitude of visual expressions. By merging the qualities of a two-dimensional painting with sculpture she had created a unique work of art. No special effects were needed in Kim’s works of art because the images in relief allowed different visual experiences depending on the angle viewed and subtle changes in lighting.
In this way, Kim’s minimalist art adds a sophisticated touch to any room without detracting from the overall ambiance, no matter what colors and furniture are in the room.
