BIOGRAPHY

Juan Pardo lives and works in Mexico City, his artistic process, through painting, drawing, or collage, focuses primarily on generating direct actions upon the medium. Works spontaneously, driven by the sensations awakened by scents, music, nature, movement, color, texture, and the sound of materials interacting with one another. Within this process, a kind of discharge occurs: the expression of something personal, profound, and impossible to articulate through words. This form of personal writing or record on the canvas—a combination of stains, lines, and even accidents—also uncovers silence as a meeting point between what is offered to his senses and the complexity of his inner world.

STATEMENT

I am an artist with sensorineural hearing loss from birth.

Because I grew up in a visual way, currently in my studio in Mexico City, I am interested in expressing how I visualize what I hear whether I am wearing my hearing aids or not.

Generally, it has worked for me to capture this abstractly through acrylic painting, drawing, collage, and other materials, while simultaneously capturing the rhythms, tones, movements, silences, tempos, frequencies, rumbles, or vibrations—elements that allow me to feel or perceive the essence of my own language and art.
