BIOGRAPHY

It all started in high school where I became the local photographer. That passion was fueled by experimenting with film processing and printing in the darkroom as well as being the photographer of all official events. Well, it became clear at that moment, photography would be part of my life and especially when my work was published on the front page of the newspaper.

Photography is about light and that sparked my interest in furthering my understanding of the nature and the behavior of these daily phenomena. That curiosity was satisfied by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in science in physics from Concordia University. Always keeping in mind to push up my skills to become a great photographer. That was validated when I was awarded by Fuji Film Canada best in photojournalism, portrait and architecture.

Commercial photography involved me in so many projects. From producing front covers for various magazines and photo assignments to working as a unit still photographer on productions and doing product photography, which led me to obtain my degree from the New York Institute of Photography. Basic skills such as film processing, darkroom work, scanning and digital printing became essential to master in such a fast and demanding environment.

At one point, loving the practice of classical photography was not enough in a technology-driven world. I got certified as a web designer and developer. This became a complete exercise in integrating assets such as photos, videos, text, page interaction into a visual discussion that engages the viewer into an experience.

With being involved in so many diverse production environments, there was one not yet tried. Publishing a book titled “Uncropped images”. The core of its concept, was about presenting images not edited in any ways other than some color correction before final printing. It turned out to be a handful and an intense endeavor. Upon my book being accepted into the Canadian National Library, I could say – mission accomplished.

Recently, I joined the ranks of PPA or Professional Photographer of America by becoming a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP). Why? To be the best. It’s all about learning and improving. A life-long journey.

STATEMENT

Experimenting with film, digital sensors and intricate lighting techniques to capture fleeting moments and details revealed by the playfulness of shadows and highlights. Revealing the unseen esthetics of industrial materials that surround us daily in the overlooked corners of our cityscapes. My work voice a serene dance between simplicity and beauty, filling the viewer with an introspective aura.

In the end, it’s all about producing that final image, printed on the finest museum paper with the best archival inks. That print hanging on the wall, immersed in a spacious and inviting environment, will engage the viewer in an intense aesthetic, challenging and fulfilling experience.
