BIOGRAPHY
db Waterman is a Dutch mixed media artist known for her dynamic, layered compositions that blend collage, painting, and photography. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Waterman began her artistic journey as a photographer. This early experience instilled in her a deep appreciation for texture, composition, and the passage of time, themes that later became central to her mixed media work.
Waterman’s art is characterized by a distinctive collage technique. Her work explores the beauty of decay, urban environments, and the traces of human existence. She skillfully combines aged, weathered elements with vibrant colors and abstract forms, creating a sense of nostalgia and timelessness in her compositions.
Thematically, her pieces often address memory, the passage of time, and the interplay between past and present. Her works have a unique ability to evoke emotion, inviting the viewer to explore the layers, both literal and metaphorical, within each piece. The blend of mediums creates a rich, tactile experience, drawing the viewer into her world of fragmented reality and subtle storytelling.

STATEMENT
I think that now more than ever, the recurring themes in my portfolio are highly relevant. My art depicts the current state of the world, and how our children grow up in an often unfair as well as deteriorating environment.
Yet, it is precisely the children’s ability to transcend difficult situations
and find joy and light in the darkest surroundings that is the much-needed hope for the future.
