BIOGRAPHY

Swiss artist born in 1963, Christine Lavanchy explores painting and photography in a singular path that is akin to experimentation: the fusion between the two disciplines is sometimes so astonishing that the eye becomes confused, not knowing what is really being proposed. Passionate about mountains, freedom and wide open spaces, it was during two trips to Patagonia that she discovered what would give meaning to her work: nature in all its splendor and virginity. These stays in the southern lands will mark her deeply and will allow her to express in a very personal way this symbiosis between art and the world.

STATEMENT

“Painting this world allows me to fully feel my belonging to it. The spectacle offered by Mother Nature is sublime and constantly renewed. It is my red thread and my energy. Without it, I would be mute. Painting, photography, mixed media are only tools to let emerge this energy that it offered me. I combine techniques, materials, colors between them, looking for this primitive vibratory energy. When I feel it, then I know that I am in the right way!”
