ARTSPER

BIOGRAPHY

The suicide of her spouse in 2016 awakened a dormant need to create. After 20 years away from the canvas, Bex has returned to her craft to explore the dis-ease that plagues contemporary society.
Bex lives and paints in South Central Idaho. Her work consists of both large-scale, abstract, mixed media works as well as still life, pen, charcoal and pastel studies.
Bex holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence and spent several years as an adjunct at the Art Institute of Chicago and Rhode Island School of Design.

STATEMENT

Mixed media artist Bex Wilkinson channels what weighs on the collective subconscious using symbols and iconography to guide viewers into what she sees as the, “unending cycle of karma.” Often the subjects of Wilkinson’s contemporary works reveal themselves as archetypes from Jungian psychology.
