BIOGRAPHY

Alia, Alexandra Lammel is a German artist whose work is inspired by her impulse for the freedom and wildness of the sea. Her paintings are based on palette knife technique, her media is oil on canvas and acrylic on canvas. After many years working in film and TV business, she found back to her real way expressing her creativity: painting. Having the chance to circumnavigate the world with a small sailboat, she is gathering many unique impressions and possibilities to be close to the strength of nature. She is transforming these intense experiences with the elements and depicts them with her palette knife on the canvas.

STATEMENT

The many facets of the sea are the inspiration for my paintings. Sometimes stormy, sometimes calm and always powerful, turning a sail boat into the toy of the waves and the wind.
Like a wave pushing the ship from behind, my palette knife runs over the canvas.
The moods of the sea are a reflection of the soul dictating the rhythm of my movements.
The reflections of the clouds, the sunbeams, the incredible expanse and depth of the sea are the colors of my palette.
