BIOGRAPHY

Adrienne M Finnerty
Contemporary Irish Abstract Artist

Adrienne’s work is strikingly individualistic, rich in colour, texture and form, evoking deep emotion. Her painting style is intuitive, abstract, informed by her positive outlook on life. Adrienne aspires to create uplifting works of joy which enrich both the eye & the soul.
Inspired by the sea & the rugged beauty of the Connemara landscape Adrienne paints daily in her Eden Cottage Studio in Spiddal County Galway on the Wild Atlantic Way.
With a background in Hypno-psychotherapy, Sound Movement and Colour therapy, Graphic and Textile Design Adrienne’s journey has been eclectic, her style constantly evolving. Her use of colour is brilliantly executed with layer building upon layer leaving memories, traces of what lies beneath.
Exhibiting both Nationally and Internationally, her work has recently toured the world with The Drawing Box showing in Paris, USA, Athens, Italy, Scotland, Germany and Australia.

STATEMENT

I love to paint, to draw, to explore my thoughts and feelings, my response to life and the world around me. I love colour and use colour to express myself, my musings on life, world happenings, daily struggles, life events, big and small. Mark making with graphite, charcoal, oil sticks, whatever feels right to get the process started. I love oils but acrylics are more suited to my current mode of working, building up layers, removing, adding, subtracting. I work on both paper and canvas.
Creating art is my life, I paint most days. My studio is my happy place, my sanctuary. I love it.
