BIOGRAPHY

YDALY MER is a contemporary mix media artist. Mer’s practice combines hyperrealistic detail, saturated color, and symbolic imagery to explore the complexities of the human experience. Central to her work are the Merqui silhouettes, faceless human figures created to examine identity beyond individual likeness. Through gesture, posture, and their relationship to a scene, these characters become points of recognition, allowing viewers to see themselves or others within the composition.

My work is rooted in everyday experience. Through painting, I explore vulnerability, identity, and the emotional dimensions of how we relate to ourselves and one another. Personal observations become a starting point for examining feelings and experiences that extend beyond my own.

I use color, gesture, and symbolism to create compositions that invite time and attention. I want viewers to absorb the work gradually, bringing their own memories and associations to what they see. This space for recognition is central to my practice: the possibility that someone might encounter a painting and find something of themselves within it.
