BIOGRAPHY
Shannon Thek Prier is a natural born artist raised outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dedicating time to travel for inspiration, Shannon eventually landed in Florida where she earned a BFA in graphic design with a focus in mathematics and painting. She has exhibited in multiple events and galleries, always eager to connect with other artists, designers and art enthusiasts. Don’t be surprised to see her works jump back and fourth between pour paintings for meditation and then designs from mathematical patterns.

STATEMENT
In Thek’s lates “Forces of Nature” collection, she is forced to submit to the chemistry and relationship between the paint and water through the pour painting process. More of a meditative ritual, the paint and water mix and dance together with a flow of minimal guidance. The hardest discipline in this stage is knowing when to walk away and let the water evaporate and the paint to dry. After a couple of pours, the painting begins to take shape, igniting imagination and the story unfolds. It is at this point that Thek is able to gain control and form a composition to better reveal the story in its abstract.
