BIOGRAPHY
Renée Hardial is an emerging visual artist whose work is a vibrant exploration of identity, memory, and the human experience. His practice, situated within modernism, draws inspiration from Art Brut, cubism, and abstraction, channeling these influences into a uniquely personal and pluralistic vision.
Through an exploratory creative process, Hardial’s work is nourished by fields such as psychology, mental health, and the enduring weight of ancestral heritage. She captures fleeting moments of life to reveal the rich social, ethnic, and cultural complexities that define them. His paintings act as windows onto multiple realities, inviting the viewer to question their own perspectives and engage in new ways of interpreting the world.
Technically, her approach is both intuitive and rigorous. She employs a dynamic mix of mediums—dominantly acrylics and oils, often enriched with watercolor, oil pastels, and ink—to build rich, tactile textures. Vibrant, bold color is a definitive signature of his work, enhancing its emotional depth and expressive power.
Renée Hardial came to prominence in 2021 after joining the collective “Awtis Rézistans” at the Maryse Condé Center for Arts and Culture in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. This pivotal moment led to her first large-scale murals and marked the beginning of an active exhibition history. After a period of private creation starting in 2014, she has since solidified his presence on the art scene.
In 2025, her work was selected for presentation at the Guadeloupe Contemporary Art Fund. This confirmed her position within the dynamic and engaged generation of contemporary Caribbean artists. Hardial’s work is a perpetual quest for dialogue and transformation, firmly rooted in the cultural landscape of Guadeloupe while speaking a universally resonant visual language.

STATEMENT
Emerging visual artist, my practice is rooted in the Modern movement while drawing
inspiration from diverse and personal sources. My work is fueled by an exploratory
creative process, enriched by fields such as mental health, psychology, the legacy of the past, singular narratives, and distant realms.
My fascination with Art of the Insane, Art Brut, and abstraction is reflected in my
approach, where I strive to capture fleeting moments of life and explore human experiences in all their richness, revealing the social, ethnic, and cultural complexity that defines them. Through my creations, I invite the viewer to question their perspectives and forge new ways of engaging with reality.
Anchored in constant research, I explore various mediums and mixed techniques: acrylic and oil dominate, while I may incorporate watercolor, oil pastel, ink, and other materials to create rich textures. Vibrant, bold color is my signature, amplifying expressiveness.
At its core lies a perpetual quest for identity and memory, interrogating inherited legacies. These windows open onto multiple realities, where art becomes a space for dialogue and transformation.
