BIOGRAPHY
Isabel Ferreira is Brazilian and was born in Arroio do Meio – RS, in 1962. Currently lives in Porto Alegre – Rio Grande do Sul, where she has her studio and exhibition space. She began her artistic career in 2015 with academic and figurative paintings. During the pandemic in 2020, she felt the need for freedom and healing. During that period, she deconstructed the traditional model of painting. She creates large paintings, and the freedom of gesture becomes the protagonist in her productions.

STATEMENT
Her mark in painting is gesture. Isabel produces her art using her body as a painting instrument to explore the canvases.
With free gestures, she proposes to experiment with contemporary abstract art in all the intersections that can be observed, through a hybridization of materials, techniques and procedures.
The artist puts aside the easel and uses unusual materials, such as: a squeegee, straw brooms, sponges, large brushes and her own hands to produce her works. The paintings and drawings move between the references of modern and contemporary art, the figurative and the abstract. The themes in her paintings come from the unconscious and open space for chance, choice and abstraction.
On screen, the result of the expression of what the artist experiences and consists of intense and completely authorial works.
