Latvian-born American artist Lauren Strock is a visionary who draws deep inspiration from the meeting of East and West – the blend of traditions, philosophies, and perspectives that shape our experience of the world. She treasures transient moments, those quiet, passing instances of beauty that often escape our notice. Lauren aims to immortalize these moments in her work, bringing joy, calm, and reflection to those who view it. Through oil, watercolor, acrylic, and digital mediums, Lauren strives to capture the essence of the world around us – the serene landscapes and the ever-changing seasons that bring us joy, peace, and connection.
Lauren fuels her artistic journey through exploration. Her Latvian roots and love of travel instill in her a fascination with the interplay of cultures. In Asia, she adopted philosophies such as Taoism and Buddhism, which have profoundly influenced her approach to portraying animals and their relationship with the natural world. Visits to Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia, and beyond have left an indelible mark on her technique and perspective. Meanwhile, travels in Europe have taken her to the lush hills of Italy, the rugged coastlines of Ireland, and the tranquil Alps of Switzerland – what I call ‘soulscapes.’ These European landscapes inspire Lauren to convey the depth and character of nature.
For Lauren, art is an ever-evolving journey – a path of constant learning, growth, and exploration. Whether she is traveling across distant landscapes or finding inspiration in the everyday beauty of her backyard, each experience brings fresh ideas and fuels her creative spirit. Her artistic practice reflects the belief that creativity is limitless, echoing Pablo Picasso’s words: “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” For Lauren, every brushstroke, adventure, and discovery becomes a stepping stone toward new, unexpected creative possibilities, as she continues to evolve both as an artist and as a lifelong learner.

Lauren’s path to becoming an artist has been anything but conventional. After a successful career in the medical industry, she chose to embrace a lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist in her 40s, returning to university to study art and art history.
Lauren earned her BA in Liberal Arts in New York before pursuing a Master’s degree in Art History in England. These academic experiences profoundly expanded her understanding of artistic traditions, deepened her appreciation for cultural diversity, and ignited an unending passion for exploring and growth.
STATEMENT
As an artist working with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and digital mediums, I find joy in painting subjects that resonate with historical and traditional perspectives. My creative journey is fueled by a deep appreciation for how art can bridge the past and present, allowing us to explore the layers of meaning that inform our experiences.
Through my work, I aim to convey the richness of cultural narratives and the beauty that emerges from the interplay of time and tradition. Each piece reflects my fascination with the stories that shape our understanding of the world, inviting viewers to engage with the themes and ideas that inspire me. I embrace a wide range of creative ideas, constantly seeking to push the boundaries of my artistic expression. My goal is to create art that not only captivates the eye but also sparks curiosity and reflection, encouraging a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork.
