BIOGRAPHY
After working as an engineer for some years, I decided to quit and to become an artist / sculptor, finally studying at Art Academy Düsseldorf. My teacher Magdalena Jetelvá encouraged me to be concerned back with my own story. This lead to numerous free art cooperations with industrial enterprises inside factories in Germany and the USA, a quite unusual circumstance. My studio work is mainly concerned with big terracotta sculpture and the traces of its genesis, especially black firing with soot. I did lectureships and guest professorships at art institutes, before I taught as a professor at HS Niederrhein for 20 years.

STATEMENT
My artistic issue is to create a sensitivity for our state between nature and self created technical worlds and its impacts to our lifes. Besides others, I am working manually with terracotta and its processing traces, right up to 3D-printed objects from technical ceramics silicone carbide. In those industrial cooperations, I try to bring a human perspective back into the anoymous serial production processes.
