CV
For more than 30 years, Cris Conde has built an independent artistic career, maintaining her own galleries and permanent exhibition spaces in the cities where she lived and worked Brasília, Tiradentes, Vienna, and, for the past 20 years, São Paulo.
Throughout this period, her exhibitions remained continuously open to the public, allowing her to establish a direct and lasting relationship with collectors, visitors, and her audience, outside the traditional gallery system.
Over the past two years, Conde has begun expanding her practice into the contemporary gallery circuit, exhibiting through Divino Galeria in Brasília and Palmas for small period, Tocantins, and becoming represented by Galeria Louise Home, in Paraná, Brazil.
At this new stage of her career, after three decades of independence and direct engagement with her audience, Conde is expanding beyond her own gallery and studio, dedicating her work to exhibitions, international collaborations, and new institutional and gallery partnerships.
STATEMENT
After 30 years of an independent artistic career, I feel that everything I have lived even what once went unnoticed is now emerging through my work.
I often recognize myself in certain scenes, or recognize the feelings that gave birth to a painting. Strangely, this awareness did not exist when I was younger.
My process is intuitive and physical. I work with charcoal, oil sticks, acrylic, raw canvas, collage, and mixed media, allowing gestures, layers, textures, and erasures to reveal what lies beneath the image.
Today, I understand my work as a place where memory, experience, femininity, and the unconscious meet. Painting has become a way of revisiting what I have lived, transforming experience into matter, gesture, and presence.
