BIOGRAPHY
Charlotte Baqai, known as Karaya in the art world, is a London based artist whose creative journey began after a series of transformative life events ignited a passion for painting. Since 2021, she has been channelling her innermost emotions and experiences into vibrant works of art, using acrylic paints and inks as her medium of choice and painting only with her hands, echoing her other passion as a Reiki Master.
With each painting, Baqai demonstrates the process of alchemy – she transmutes darkness into light, stagnancy into vibrancy, shadows into colour and restriction into liberation.

STATEMENT
Painting for me is pure alchemy – driven entirely by the energy of emotions that need transmuting through my paint covered hands, which channel the energy and transform it into a dance of vibrant colours on the canvas. My desire is for the observer to deeply connect with my work- for it to awaken something in their soul that has long lay dormant.
