BIOGRAPHY
Carmen Montilla is a Spanish painter whose work is deeply inspired by the landscapes of Menorca, particularly by the extraordinary blue of its sea. Since establishing her residence on the island in 2021, the Mediterranean environment has become a central source of inspiration for her artistic practice.
She currently divides her time between the Balearic Island and Madrid, drawing creative influence from both the natural beauty of the Mediterranean and the vibrant cultural life of the Spanish capital.
Montilla was born in Ibi, Alicante, Spain. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and a postgraduate degree in Art History, Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA).
Her artistic education developed between Ronda (Malaga), Granada, Seville, Madrid, and Strasbourg, where she deepened her interest in painting and the study of both classical and contemporary techniques.
Her work explores the relationship between nature, light, beauty, and human emotion, often evoking the luminous intensity of Mediterranean light and the deep blues of the Menorcan sea.

STATEMENT
Carmen Montilla’s work is rooted in an appreciation of the beauty that surrounds her and in a deeply personal interpretation of this subjective experience. Much of her inspiration emerges from the vibrant blue of the sea in Menorca, whose presence permeates the landscape with a sense of vitality, light, and energy.
Her paintings explore the visual dialogue between water, sky, and light, elements that continuously transform through reflection and movement. Through colour, form, and materials such as acrylic and oil on canvas or wood, Carmen Montilla seeks to convey the delicate yet powerful essence of nature.
Her work invites viewers to experience a sense of energy, movement, and emotional connection inspired by the luminous blues of the Mediterranean.
