ARTSPER

BIOGRAPHY

As a French-Khmer girl, I grew up in an artistic environment. My parents come from different cultural backgrounds: my French mother trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris; my father, a Cambodian poet and writer, worked as a university lecturer in Phnom-Penh. Armed with these two heritages, after a short academic course in Switzerland, I was able to enrich and refine my techniques in a wide variety of fields with talented teachers. Drawing on all this experience, I’ve created an enchanting universe where mixed media (mineral, cellulose, sand, metal, resin, plant fibres, etc.) come together in a jumble, and where I enjoy using these different techniques to tackle themes that are close to my heart: my childhood in Cambodia, with its luxuriant nature, archaeological remains (the temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, etc.) and a strong culture linked to a bygone past; but also experiences linked to my work as a therapist in the medical field.

STATEMENT

My work focuses on two themes:

• My childhood in Cambodia
• My research and use of materials in my professional work with patients.

The first is based on the use of minerals and cellulose, which define the timelessness of stones, buildings and statues that bear the traces of a vanished civilisation.

The second is based on my inexhaustible interest in the materials I use (sand, pigments, acrylics, patinas, plant fibres, etc.).
