BIOGRAPHY
Antonio Domingos was born in Portugal, and lives in the city of Oporto. He is a painter by training, yet photography has become his primary tool of expression. His creative journey is rooted in a minimalist approach, guided by the principles of geometry and the Golden Ratio. Where canvas once guided his hands, he now searches for harmony in the surfaces of walls, doors, and windows—spaces marked by time, weather, and human presence.
His work explores the quiet order found in everyday materials: weathered wood, rusted metal, concrete, and industrial textures. Through careful observation, he seeks to reveal the beauty in imperfection and the transformation that occurs as materials age and decay. Each composition is a study in balance—vertical and horizontal lines echoing the fundamental directions of our universe.
Whether painting or photographing, he is drawn to simplicity, structure, and the subtle stories told by surfaces. His art invites viewers to pause, look closely, and discover the hidden harmonies that shape our environment.

STATEMENT
In my recent work, I establish a dialogue between photography and painting, intervening on architectural elements and other surfaces marked by time, use, and the transformation of matter. My interest lies in the visual richness that emerges from these surfaces — in their chromatic variations, textures, irregularities, and subtle complexity.
Through the introduction of digital painterly gestures, I seek to reinforce the material presence of the image, combining observation and intervention. The composition is structured by the Golden Ratio, understood as an impersonal and historically grounded formal principle that organizes the image with clarity, balance, and rigour.
My work aims to reveal the transformation of matter through form, colour, and composition, constructing images in which the surface asserts itself as an active field of visual relations.
