Despite the countless debates that have taken place over the course of a century and a half regarding the definition of art, there is one fact that remains an integral part of it: the act of creation.

When an artist takes elements, whether they are of their own creation or a result of inspiration, and arranges them in a particular way to construct a discourse using the pieces, they are creating something that did not exist before. In this sense, art is a form of resistance to reality.

Galería Azur’s latest exhibition revolves around this concept and brings together a selection of contemporary artists on a virtual tour through the various ways in which artists have incorporated resistance into their artistic expressions. Abstractions and figurative elements converse with each other in a language that can only be understood through the powerful plastic energy that is conceived as an act of resistance. These pieces exude an energy that resists the illusionary world we inhabit and their creator alike.

NURIA DE BOFARULL

Nuria De Bofarull’s oeuvre is a testament to her original, balanced, and harmonizing style, which employs a distinct visual vocabulary, reflecting her unwavering quest for self-discovery through a singular artistic approach. Her series, entitled “Lanzarote,” showcases a mesmerizing interplay of cool and earth tones, where a dynamic splatter merges with lines and gestures, evoking a gestural scenario that reveals an organic, ever-flowing cosmos. Each stroke and curve form a complex network of shapes and colors that invite us to contemplate the infinite possibilities of form and meaning. By skillfully intensifying the painting’s evolution, the line becomes a focal point that magnifies the interplay of chaos and order, transforming it into a legible and profound expression of the artist’s creative vision.

CHRISTINE KERUTH

Crescendo” and “Venice IV” are magnificent abstract pieces in their harmony. Witness an explosion of colors that intertwine with subtle figurative elements, gracefully pirouetting among veiled transparencies, all achieved through a masterful palette of graduated reds and matching violets. Meanwhile, in “Run, Forrest Run”, a neutral earth-toned palette takes center stage, commanding attention with its understated yet powerful presence.

The textures in Christine’s works are a symphony of harmonization, seamlessly blending different planes through overlapping brushstrokes, resulting in a masterful and balanced composition. As the viewer surrenders to the dreamlike play of the pieces, one is enveloped by a strong, emotional, and unforgettable experience. The world depicted in these works is one of mysterious realities, a tapestry of the enigmatic and the wondrous, beckoning the beholder to plunge deeper into its depths.
