Hibou Cram\u00e9 is a figure of consciousness pushed to the breaking point.<\/p>\n
An owl of the night, traditionally associated with vision and vigilance, this one seems to have seen too much. Its bulging stare no longer reveals the world: it absorbs its excess.<\/p>\n
Fragmented, torn apart, glued back together and held in place with bits of tape, it appears as a creature that has travelled through chaos without ever quite managing to put itself back together. Layers of acrylic, tears, signs, handwritten marks and bursts of colour create an image in a state of permanent disconnection.<\/p>\n
Here, Expressionism is less a way of representing an idea than a way of bringing a state of consciousness to the surface. Colour becomes nerve, the line becomes impulse, collage becomes scar tissue.<\/p>\n
Something wild, almost totemic, runs through the figure. Something psychedelic too \u2014 as if reality had suddenly lost its stability, and the owl were perceiving all of its frequencies at once.<\/p>\n
Hibou Cram\u00e9 may be a creature of our time: dismantled, overstimulated, saturated with images and signs, yet still standing \u2014 or at least still hanging on.<\/p>\n
