THE QUEST
\nAn Epic Beyond Time

A kind of rather feminine figure, a bluish creature. She moves forward through a world whose landmarks seem to have disappeared.<\/p>\n
Spear in hand, she appears to be steering a vessel, crossing a territory \u2014 or escaping from it. Animorphs accompany her: hybrid figures, somewhere between the imaginary, the animal and the mythological creature.<\/p>\n
-The Movement
\nEverything seems to move towards the right.<\/p>\n
The central figure.
\nThe gazes.
\nThe small flying creature.
\nA sense of departure. Of movement.<\/p>\n
And yet, the serpents \/ creatures behind her are looking in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
Some look ahead, others look the other way, as if two opposing forces were struggling over the direction of movement.<\/p>\n
To flee? To conquer? To discover?<\/p>\n
Nothing allows us to decide.<\/p>\n
QUAESTIO ES. QUAESITIO ERIS.
\nYou are a question. You will become a quest.<\/p>\n
Enigmatic signs cross the surface like fragments of a forgotten language.<\/p>\n
Serpents, hybrid creatures, paths, ladders and silhouettes seem to belong to a geography that no longer obeys the laws of the known world.<\/p>\n
Within this darkness, blue emerges as a rupture.<\/p>\n
It becomes a colour of passage, of hope \u2014 perhaps even a call towards somewhere else.<\/p>\n
Gold introduces another dimension: that of the precious, the sacred, of something yet to be reached.<\/p>\n
The Quest takes shape here as a movement towards that which remains unknown.<\/p>\n
A quest for oneself, a quest for another world, a quest for the spiritual \u2014 or simply the necessity to leave.<\/p>\n
The painting merely offers the scene.<\/p>\n
It is up to the viewer to become, in turn, the one who seeks.<\/p>\n
The painting is set within a frame made from reclaimed wood, taken from an old door frame.<\/p>\n
Cleaned and varnished without erasing its wounds, the wood retains the traces of time and decay. It thus becomes a threshold: between an ancient world and a world yet to come, between what is collapsing and what remains to be discovered.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the Quest begins precisely where we no longer know where to go.<\/p>\n
The wood carries memory.<\/p>\n
Its cracks, its irregularities, its ageing.<\/p>\n
The nobility of the material enters into dialogue with its fragility.<\/p>\n
Time is no longer merely represented; it is inscribed in the material itself.<\/p>\n
