GOD, THE COSMOS, AND\u2026<\/p>\n

There is the presence of a divine figure, seated at the centre, with what appears to be a horse, or an equine creature, behind him. Yet all around him, everything is unstable.<\/p>\n
\u2014 A divine figure seated upon a world in chaos. We know it is God: it is written on the cardboard.<\/p>\n
The word \u201cGOD\u201d is not inscribed on any noble or sacred material. It appears on a torn piece of cardboard, like a fragment salvaged from among the debris. A presence that has become almost residual: who still remembers God in a world governed by consumption, acceleration and indifference? It is almost as though the word itself has been relegated to the refuse.
\nSeated upon a world saturated with activity, God seems to observe without intervening. Around him, machines, smoke, architecture and signs of intense activity intertwine within a landscape where industry appears to have taken over everything.<\/p>\n
An equine creature, almost mechanical, emerges behind him.<\/p>\n
The industrial world seems to have exceeded itself. Even the horse accompanying God appears contaminated by this machinery. It emerges as if from nothingness \u2014 from the Cosmos.<\/p>\n
A divine presence, but one offering no promise of salvation.<\/p>\n
\u201cMan is restless. The world accelerates. God, however, remains seated.\u201d<\/p>\n
There is a distinctly dark dimension to the work: God seems to have ceased even to wish to intervene. The work is not necessarily religious in any traditional sense; rather, it raises questions about responsibility, progress, civilisation and the exhaustion of our world.<\/p>\n
The pentimento is also employed here as a technique \u2014 almost a metaphor for my work itself: something is concealed, yet refuses to disappear completely. Things are hidden.<\/p>\n
I work through accumulation, layering, covering, erasure and reappearance. Collage, drawing and painting overlap; certain signs are deliberately crossed out or concealed. What disappears nevertheless continues to exist beneath the surface.<\/p>\n
Here, God no longer judges.<\/p>\n
He watches.<\/p>\n
