There were cultures and belief systems existing before the colonization. We had our gods, different tribes with their respective languages, set  values and norms.<br \/>\nAll these were evident before the scramble and partition of Africa by the West.  These cultural values were all in existence before the invasion of Africa, by the colonialists. As this painting portrays, the people had their signs and symbols of communication before the influence of the western education. These symbos were rich in meaning and interpretations. They were also of rich and good literary values which were later undermined after the coming of the west .As well, our fore-fathers were  very knowledgeable enough by challenging the white man for imposing a new and strange belief system on the people.<br \/>\nThe idea behind the need to change and reverse our belief systems was received not without a fight. Not forgetting, these norms were  new to them and they never hidden their  feelings. Colonization forced and subjected our people to abandoning their values  and originality to embrace a new culture.
