The elements within the painting seem to be suspended in a limbo that is disorienting to the viewer but not the child. The firmness of her posture and the intensity of her gaze are unwavering proof that this is her queendom. She understands its inherent rules and risks.<br \/>\nThis battle of choice is based on the reality that as she grows, learns, and creates, she bears the fruit of secrets she must safeguard intelligently. To safeguard her secrets from undesired risk, she confuses the curious. The use of symbols -her own language, and her exploratory ship -a paper boat, signify her increasing inclinations toward independence.
