This cat possesses an endearing malice, truly, I find myself on the verge of keeping him.

"Zwarte Kat" / 25 × 20 (framed) a frame of a delightfully garish brown (yet perfectly kitsch!) – inside format/postcard 16 × 11 – background alcohol-based wood stain, acrylic paint, corrector fluid (impasto blanco?), techpoint 0.5 / 0.8, Bic pen, black marker.
He's a gentle rogue.
This painting/artwork represents a cat in a highly distinctive style, evoking both cubism and abstract art.

Key elements:

Artistic style (and the cat's demeanor): The cat is relaxed, tranquil, yet with a hint of excitement. He extends his right paw, revealing his claws, and bares his fangs, yet he is inherently gentle, endearing from within. His gaze is not truly malevolent, or perhaps it is an apathetic malice, fierce for a fleeting moment, followed by remorse. This is particularly evident in his left eye, and his left shoulder is entirely relaxed; he is gentle. His tail is not erect; he will not attack; he is at ease (though he does enjoy playing the part, just a little!). After all, he is black! He is almost obliged to play the "ruffian." And this would almost be… (indeed, it is my very point!) alas, in life, those who appear gruff are often perceived as villains, when in truth, they are often the most gentle.
It is a combination of cubism, with its simple geometric and angular forms, the simplicity reinforcing his "gentle" nature, a combination of a kind of cubism and abstract art, with its lack of direct realistic representation. One could speak of "cat form, cat cubism"; the eyes are reduced to circular forms, the muzzle is somewhat twisted and pointed(?), the ears are almost triangular.
Regarding the colors: The color palette is rich and varied, with tones of yellow and blue, yet they hold their own against the blacks, whites, grays, and browns. The colors enhance the various forms and planes of the face, creating an effect of depth and texture.
The presence of annotations is notable ("NOiR," partially legible at the top of the representation, and various snippets of text, such as "THEY TITE DOG" inscribed in the lower part of the image). This text appears to be an integral part of the artwork and could be a kind of signature (no) or title (no), a commentary(? "they tite dog" they tite ..they tite?"eat? !; ah o, "they eat dog", ahah yes, "they eat dog they eat cat", ah yes! we have heard that somewhere!!). It's as if a Frenchman, as laid-back as his cat, who doesn't speak English well (even though many English words are now common in our language), would say, repeat, what he has heard: "oulala! in the States, they tite the dog… They tite dog!" (the errors are there to reinforce the idea, the visual; we imagine that the cat's owner is not very educated, and having heard a public person declare this, he repeats it, "they tite dog").
This artwork is interesting in several respects: its originality: It offers a unique and imaginative representation of a cat, far from traditional realistic portraits. The cubist and abstract style brings a playful and modern dimension. The technique: The color assembly of the image evokes a certain depth of form and helps to specify the shapes of the cat. One can imagine a work of superimposition of layers and manipulation of geometric shapes. Interpretation: The text "THEY TITE DOG" is intriguing. Is it a reference to an existing expression? A play on words? A simple association of sounds and letters? Each person can give free rein to their interpretation. (provided one notices this little bit of text.) (Decoration: This image could perfectly find its place in a contemporary interior or an art gallery. Its colorful and quirky aesthetic will not fail to attract attention. (This, is what A.I Gemini specified!)) In conclusion, this image is an original and creative artwork that revisits the cat portrait with a unique style. It testifies to the artist's imagination and his ability to play with forms, colors, and words. And then, since he is black, "ZWARTE Kat," then of course he would be mean, all dark, and well no, once again, preconceptions! He is "GenTiL" (gentle). (The blue and yellow come to save him, he is "gentle," "gentle-Zwart").

Observing my artwork "Zwarte Kat," several references to artistic movements or artists come to mind:

I would be rather close to Art Brut/Naive Art, through the spontaneity of the strokes, the simplicity of the forms, and the direct expressiveness. A free creativity, because, let's face it, there is here an absence of academic conventions. I also have a rather close relationship with "Abstract Expressionism"; some characteristics in common would be: The use of vivid and expressive colors, energy in the stroke, and spontaneity of execution. The emphasis on emotion and personal expression is also a key element of this movement, and I always prioritize the emotional, even in something very dark.

Or perhaps, could I be closer to Free Figuration: an uninhibited and spontaneous style, the use of vivid colors, and the playful aspect very often in my work. This movement, which is characterized by a total freedom of expression and an absence of rules. In any case, I admire artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso: The creative madness and the simplification of forms, the disregard for rules, the inventiveness for supports or mediums. The exploration of geometric forms and the deconstruction of realistic representation are also elements that I share. And even primarily. I was also told about Asger Jorn: The raw aspect, the freedom of expression, the disregard for codes, yes, I am in.

Ah, I was going to forget… the "Kitsch" side of the frame is also a nod to a certain form of art. I chose it precisely for its "Kitsch" aspect. I love it, it goes very well with my laid-back cat, mein "Zwarte Kat."

[400,24
