But, the pretext of Hitler's moustache should give us pause! The wind of a certain new and pseudo-dictatorial order can be felt: the desire to conquer, to impose a vision, to eradicate differences, to erase imperfections, or at least what represents 'imperfection' in the eyes of certain self-convinced perfectionists.

It is a composite image, organized into several arrangements in a wild comic strip style, evoking a collage of ideas, sensations, emotions of the character in the person of Adolf Hitler, indignant at being 'forbidden his moustache', potentially narrative images, each panel presenting a drawing (drawings with deliberately minimalist lines) 'and/or' 'one/some' inscriptions, creating a visually rich whole and telling us a story, the History of the past, (the History of the future?).

A vehicle resembling a tank or a war machine, surmounted by what could be a turret or a military structure, yes: it is indeed a German soldier giving the 'Heil-Hitler' (Nazi propaganda salute) on a tank-war machine, (we also see in the overall drawing: the Nazi symbol eagle, a sketch of the swastika, the red swastika drapes on the Reichstag, a whole symbolism of manipulation, so let us understand here, and remember that the masses are potentially and relatively susceptible to being indoctrinated and conditioned.

The support: spiral-bound notebook sheet with the tear-off edges kept, a cartoon-comic style, memory document, journal, leaflet.
The language: the presence of writings in German ('SCHNURRBART VERBOTEN', 'Das kann nicht!') suggests a reflection on language and its power. The inscription 'moustache prohibited' referring to rules or bans, prohibitions, written each time in red: 'Verboten' 'Achtung', while 'Vorsicht', more delicate (caution!), is annotated in blue, as if to suggest that we can always consciously refuse any attempt at indoctrination. Otherwise, Her Führer-Chancellor, Mr. Hitler has a blue lock of hair on one of the caricatures, perhaps making him a little less severe, not sure! In any case, we can clearly read the dejection, the desolation in his eyes, we see his state of mind… it is the period when he himself knows perfectly well that his hopes of an inevitable and implacable world conquest are forced to be thwarted. And on top of that, they forbid his moustache!!
War or conflict: the drawing of the tank, the war machine, evokes a context of conflict and violence, as it reigned at the time. This is linked to History, unfortunately with a capital 'H', but perhaps also to more current concerns.
Memory: The fragmented aspect of the work, with its disparate panels and partial texts, could suggest an exploration of memory and how memories are constructed, deconstructed, and reconstructed.
'Schnurrbart Verboten'
(31 × 25 (frame) Mixed Things: – alcohol-based wood stain, black Marker, red, three blue lines (Hitler's haircut?), 'ah!', Blanco corrector, Tech-point 0.5 / 0.8, Bic, Metallic Silver Chalk Marker.

Due to its enigmatic style and varied content, this work invites interpretation. Each spectator can find different meanings in it according to their own sensitivity and experience."

[400,24
