It was a commentary on how, most likely, if a plane crashes, these particular protocols will not work. As the painting was being created, Putin invaded Ukraine. I had already been working with the theme of blue sky and yellow foreground, and then the painting took a deeper meaning as the Ukrainian flag began to emerge. I went with the topic and incorporated the flight number that Putin shot down killing 298 civilians from 16 different countries.
